General Requirements

All masters and officers serving on a ship flying the Portuguese Flag will receive a 'Statement of Receipt of Application - SRA' (valid for up to 90 days) and a 'Certificate of Endorsement'.

No other Flag State certification is required for Masters, officers or ratings.

No Portuguese seaman’S books are required.

Our team will describe which documents are required to obtain an SRA and subsequently a Certificate of Endorsement. Generally, for each applicant any party may submit:

• the national Certificate of Competence, or GMDSS
• the passport copy
• the medical certificate and some other documents
  

For ratings no documents need to submitted or recognized by Portuguese Flag State (as per the STCW Code).
