Hartmann expands LPG fleet under Portuguese Flag

The Hartmann Group, one of Europe’s leading family-owned shipping companies, is reflagging 18 LPG tankers under the Portuguese flag in MAR – The International Shipping Register of Madeira. Together, these vessels form one of the youngest and most innovative gas carrier fleets in the world, representing a total capacity of more than 250,000 gross tons.

The decision reflects Hartmann’s confidence in Portugal as a reliable and competitive flag state and builds on a long-standing partnership with the Portuguese register. It also follows recent changes in German tax administration regarding the taxation of seafarers, which led Hartmann to consolidate its gas carrier fleet under MAR.
