Under the EU-China bilateral agreement, Portuguese-flagged ships receive a 27% discount on port dues, resulting in savings of up to $100,000 per year. This advantage is not available under all major flags.

In Brazil, the Port Lighthouse Fee (Taxa de Farol) is fully waived on every port call, saving up to $3,000 per visit. This benefit is nearly exclusive to the Portuguese flag.
